Let's have a look over the Ring Smart Home Alarm components and see what they do.
Ring Alarm Base Station
Your Ring Smart Home Alarm will come with a base station, your base station plugs into a 230v 50Hz plug socket with the power adapter included in the box of your Ring Smart Alarm system. The base station also comes with an ethernet cable which plugs directly into the back of your internet access point which can be either a modem or a wireless router, this will allow you to use the system through the Ring app and if the base station isn't going to be placed near your internet access point it can be mounted elsewhere and has the option to connect wirelessly to your access point which the connection needs to be 2.4 or 5 GHz. This would require the SSID and password located on the back, side or beneath your modem/router.
Ring Alarm Keypad
The Ring Alarm keypad is completely wireless and can be installed in a matter of seconds, the keypad has a keypad so you can arm, disarm or part arm the alarm system. The keypad also has a selection of SOS buttons for fire, police and for medical! which are beneficial, the keypad also has a built in motion sensor so if movement is detected near the keypad it will illuminate when needed and also has a built in power save mode so it uses less battery as possible.
This device can be either plugged into the wall or it can run off battery.
Ring motion sensor
The motion sensor(s) that are provided in the box of your Ring Smart Home Alarm detect movement in the chosen rooms they've been placed in. The sensor will send you motion alerts when movement has been detected and will trigger the alarm if an intruder has broke in where all your Ring cameras will instantly start recording.
If the battery in the sensor is running low it will send a notification to the app and will also tell you if it's faulty
Ring door contact
The Ring door contact sensor is usually placed on doors, the sensor being mounted to the frame and the magnet on the door itself or it can be mounted the other way round. The door contact sends alerts to the app every time a door opens and also sends you a notification to say the battery is low or the sensor is faulty and needs replacing. This will only trigger the alarm system when it's been set in the chosen mode.
Ring glass break sensor
The Ring glass break detector is a brand new add on device providing the Ring Alarm another layer of security. The glass break detector can be mounted to a wall, a ceiling or placed on a shelf that's near a window. This device will alert you if it detects the sound of glass being smashed, this sensor uses AI technology to distinguish between the sound of a window being smashed to jingling keys to minimize the risks of false alarms.
This device will send you a notification if the battery is low or if the device is faulty.
Ring external siren
The Ring Smart Home Alarm external siren is a powerful deterrent with it's back light and 100db high power siren. The external sirens back light makes it visible at night and makes intruders think twice as they can see your home is protected with an alarm system.
The external siren has the option of being wired or wireless.
